The U.S. Food and Drug Administration initiated a recall on several brands of metal-on-metal hip replacement devices, including the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular system. This particular recall is being conducted due to the premature wearing that can lead to several serious health problems.

Some of these health problems can include pain, swelling, and inflammation at the surgical site or, more seriously, a condition called metallosis. Michigan Is Sixth in Nation for Dog Bite Injuries

Today marks the beginning of National Dog Bite Prevention week, and many citizens hope it will help bring awareness to the problem of dog attacks in Michigan.

Due to numerous complications associated with the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System and the ASR XL Acetabular System, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has initiated a voluntary recall on the devices. The DePuy Hip Replacement Recall began in August of 2010, but numerous patients continue to report problems today.
