Man Injured As the Result of a Police Pursuit

by Thomas Stroble | February 16th, 2014

Scott DavidsonMany times, an accident injures someone who wasn’t  to blame. This is particularly troubling when it was a criminal who was at fault.  When you or someone you know was injured it makes such an event even more troubling.  Having good legal help in such an instance is never more important than when your health depends upon it.

Running from the police is never a good idea.  Fleeing from authorities can often cause injuries in others. Such was the case of a 76-year-old man who was critically injured in a recent incident.   A suspect was fleeing the Michigan State Police … Read More

Pleas Can Be Confusing

by Thomas Stroble | February 13th, 2014

James EmeryOne excellent reason to have a lawyer on your side is that you can you understand plea deals. For many reasons, a prosecutor may want to offer a charge offender a lesser sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to a charge. The details of these deals may be confusing to a layperson, but they can have big consequences in future civil suits.

A man, described in his 40’s, was standing or walking in the roadway at 6am near the 22 Mile Road overpass.  Perhaps he wasn’t seen by the driver, or the driver was spacing out. Either way, this man was hit and killed by a vehicle.

The driver who hit this man sped away and police are still looking for him.  The accident itself closed M-53 down for … Read More

Distracted Driving leads to Death

by Thomas Stroble | February 6th, 2014

Rennett StoweA little drift into the wrong lane can mean the difference between life and death.  It was tragically the latter in this case. Amanda Collins was driving her kids somewhere when she slid across the road and slammed into a snowbank.  While the vehicle’s passenger side was exposed to oncoming traffic, a truck smashed into the vehicle.

The mother, 38, and her child, a 10 month old, were both dead on the scene.  A seven year old, Madysen Marie Church, was airlifted to DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.  She’s hanging on, and the prayers of her friends and … Read More

Complex Cases Take Time

by Thomas Stroble | February 4th, 2014

Marcus PoveyWhen an accident is especially complicated, it can take a long time for a final settlement to come about. All sides want to make sure that the right verdict is reached, but we recognize that the waiting can be tough. One family is waiting for a lawsuit to go forward about a multi-car pileup that took the lives of two children and left a third with brain injuries.

It happened on the last day of the year. The family was planning to go to Canada for a vacation. The police’s version of the events goes like this. Snow began to … Read More
