FDA Changes Approval Process Following DePuy Hip Replacement Recall

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration initiated a recall on several brands of metal-on-metal hip replacement devices, including the DePuy ASR XL Acetabular system. This particular recall is being conducted due to the premature wearing that can lead to several serious health problems.

Some of these health problems can include pain, swelling, and inflammation at the surgical site or, more seriously, a condition called metallosis. A patient develops the latter condition when small metallic fragments from the device wear off and are absorbed into the bloodstream. Safety Tips Offered to Help Prevent Michigan Bicycle Accidents

Approximately 2,000 Michigan Bicycle Accidents were reported last year. These crashes resulted in the loss of 20 lives and left another 1,598 cyclists injured. In an effort to reduce this number, the state of Michigan has announced several campaigns to coincide with National Bike Month during May.

Study Shows Increase in Michigan Car Accidents Caused by Distracted Driving

A recent examination of reports filed in relation with Michigan Car Accidents shows there is an increase in the number of collisions caused by distracted driving. What is interesting, though, is that the cause of distraction may not always be cellphone use.

According to an article from M Live, researchers looked at the causes listed in all traffic accidents recorded in the state last year. They found roughly 5,000 collisions were the result of a driver not paying attention.

Michigan Is Sixth in Nation for Dog Bite Injuries

Today marks the beginning of National Dog Bite Prevention week, and many citizens hope it will help bring awareness to the problem of dog attacks in Michigan.

A new study shows there were a total of 151 reported Michigan Dog Bite Injuries last year accounting for roughly $4.6 million in insurance company payouts. These findings ranked the state as having the sixth highest rate of dog bite incidents in the nation.

Michigan Lawmakers Consider Placing Caps on No-Fault Insurance Benefits

When a Michigan Car Accident occurs, victims can be left with injuries that affect them for a lifetime. Under current state law, most expenses associated with injuries can be covered by a motorist’s no-fault auto insurance policy. However lawmakers are considering changing this rule.
